This trek takes you to the fascinating Dogon Country.
The Dogon people settled on the huge Bandiagara escarpment ages ago,
in order to escape from advancing Islam.
They did not want to leave their
own religion and traditions.
The Dogon have hardly changed their way of life since they settled on
the rock face.
Nowadays they still strongly hold on to their own culture
and animistic religion.
Their old villages seem to be glued to the escarpment.
The country of the Dogon is fairy-like.
During the trek you will learn about the unique ancient Dogon culture.
The guide will tell you all about the rituals, holy fetishes, animist priests
and mythology.
